Short BioNancy Wang Yuen is a sociologist and pop culture expert. She is the author of 'Reel Inequality: Hollywood Actors and Racism' and co-author of The Prevalence and Portrayal of Asian and Pacific Islanders Across 1,300 Popular Films.' She is the host of The Disrupters Podcast and has appeared on PBS, NPR, MSNBC, BBC World, and Dr. Phil. She has spoken and consulted on diversity issues at Amazon, Disney, Dreamworks, Lionsgate and Netflix. She is a guest writer at CNN, Elle, LA Times, NBC, Newsweek, Today, and Vanity Fair. Nancy is currently writing a book about her life through the films and TV shows she grew up watching.

Nancy Wang Yuen is a sociologist and expert on race and racism in Hollywood. Nancy is the author of Reel Inequality: Hollywood Actors and Racism (2016) and co-editor of Power Women: Stories of Motherhood, Faith, and the Academy (2021). She is the host of The Disrupters podcast. She has co-authored multiple media reports including, “Tokens on the Small Screen: Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders on Prime Time and Streaming Television” (2017), “Terrorists and Tyrants: Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) Actors in Prime Time & Streaming Television,” (2018), and “The Prevalence and Portrayal of Asian and Pacific Islanders Across 1,300 Popular Films” (2021). Nancy's work has been featured in CNN, Elle, Gizmodo, LA Times, NBC, Newsweek, Today, and Vanity Fair.
